Kayaking is a great outdoor activity and can be practiced as an adventure sport or as a recreational activity. Types of Fishing Kayaks

Stand up Fishing Kayaks: Stand up kayaks is relatively less popular and are mainly used for kayak fishing. A stand up kayak is a good option for those who need to frequently alternate between paddling and fishing. A stand up kayak allows the paddler to be in a better position for paddling as well as fishing and offer great control.

Stand up kayaks offer freedom from the standard ?L-shape? posture in a regular sitting kayak. The L-shaped posture is not very comfortable and can cause back aches for kayakers, especially after long sessions.

Like in sitting kayaks, tandem kayak fishing in a stand up kayak is also possible. However, this is a very difficult proposition and requires extensive training and practice. This is because both the paddlers must maintain proper co ordination, especially while landing larger fish.

These features make a stand up kayak safer and easy to maneuver. However, a stand up kayak is not for everyone and requires the paddler to have a good deal of experience of controlling a kayak in different conditions. Also, paddlers, especially amateurs should not attempt to stand up in their normal sit in or sit on top kayaks for paddling or for fishing.
